Last time we tried to visit early April but passes were closed so we didn't make it. This time we will again be coming in from Lees Ferry. Should that road be open by early May? We don't want to be disappointed twice. Allan and Shona (New Zealand)

North Rim is open May 15th to October 15 usually.

Do you need to make a reservation for dinner at the dinner facility? 7 of us will be staying at the lodges cabins and thought we might ensure a dinner there.

Most definitely, especially with a party that size. Be sure to make a reservation.

Are there rooms in the lodge or in cabins only

Only cabins and you can only book 6 months in advance.

Which rim/end of the grand canyon is better in your opinion

I personally prefer the North Rim, mostly because there's less people there and the location is more remote. Also the landscape on both sides is a bit different. Both are definitely worth seeing.
